M. Giles' value?

Postby warrick95 » Tue May 18, 2004 10:01 am

What's Marcus' value at this point? I'm in a ten man league with only one DL spot. I have Reyes, D. Roberts, and Nen (not giving up quite yet!) on the DL at this point. I was offered Hawkins and M. Giles for Graves, because the other owner is desperate for saves and also has about four DL players (he just dropped Glaus for crying out loud). My 2B are Soriano and Kent (Ut), so it's not like I need a 2B, but perhaps I can cook up a nice deal for Marcus...

Is this deal too good for me to pass up on, even with Graves' SP eligibility? I have JoeBo, too, so I'm just hoping a closer switch happens soon if it'll happen.

If you don't need Giles, then I'd work a trade to get another batter in his place.

Did you pick up Glaus?

Dude, I'd stay away from Marcus. Keep what you have. Giles is banged up right now and there's no guarantee that he'll come back the player he was. Remember, too, that Giles just "broke out" last year, so assuming he'll come back one of the better 2b options may not be a good idea. YOu have enough talent at 2b. As bad as Borowki has been this year, I'm getting a sinking feeling in my stomach that Borowski and Hawkins will wind up doing the closer by committee thing by the end of the year. Graves is definitely a sell high candidate right now, but you'll be better off dealing him for something you need now -- not for a player who may be tradable once he comes off the DL who knows when.
