David Wells cut his right wrist and left palm, apparently in an accident at home, and is expected to miss his next two starts.
Wells is expected to go on the DL tomorrow. The Padres could call up a reliever for a few days, but they'll need a fifth starter on Saturday and they figure to turn to Dennis Tankersley then.

David Wells had surgery yesterday to repair a wrist tendon he severed in a home accident involving glass. The tendon is in his non-throwing wrist, but Wells also needed some stitches to close a wound on his left hand. He'll go on the DL today. Source: San Diego Union-Tribune
