probably just a day off... happens ALL the time... I don't know why people get so revved up about this...

would you have him strike out against sheets 3 times instead?
Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he'll drown because you forgot to teach him to swim.

there's days off and then there's days off after hamstring injuries w/a play-it-safe manager the day before lineups are due. chipper's hamstring issues are well documented and no one thought sheets would K that many! that was a game they needed and a must-start for Chipper w/their other offensive woes. i hope it is nothing and that you're right but i don't want to stick him in today and lose his 6 games for the week tomorrow.

Cox just wanted to give Chipper 2 days off (tomorrow's a scheduled off day)....I would be willing to bet that Chipper starts every game next week.

Chipper rests: Manager Bobby Cox held Chipper Jones out of the starting lineup Sunday, giving his slugging outfielder a day of rest.

"His legs are still bothering him," Cox said.

Jones came off the disabled list May 8, but is only 4-for-24 since returning and has complained that he doesn't feel comfortable at the plate.

"I'm a half second slow on the fastball and a half second fast on the off-speed stuff," he said.

With Jones resting, DeWayne Wise started in his place and hit in the leadoff spot for the seventh time this year. Catcher Johnny Estrada, who had five hits Saturday night, moved into the cleanup spot normally occupied by Jones.

Is it smart to start Chipper next week? Or would it be better to start: Griffey, Dunn or Carlos Lee?

Out of these 4, which would you start is basically my question.

Justified to be revved up. Jones hasn't played enough to rest. He is obviously still not 100%.

Career .583 hitter off of Sheets should not be sitting without very good reason. :-t
