He's having an incredibly impressive game. He threw 6 innings so far and gave up 1 hit, 1 walk, and has 4 Ks. ;-D

He's 29 years old, and had a 5.28 ERA and 1.58 WHIP last year. To me, that's enough to stay away.

I have Carpenter as my 5th SP in my deep league(20 teams, 25 players per) and i start him in all games except at Coors or in Houston. He was always looked at as a good young pitcher when he was pitching for Toronto but his results never really matched the hype. However, i've read that people in the Cardinals organization are saying he has the best stuff on their staff. I figure he has a great defense behind him and a powerful offense to get him leads so as long as he keeps his ERA around or under 4.00 he can rack up wins and he'll have a decent amount of K's. The thing i like so far is that he's not walking guys. His WHIP is barely over 1.00. As long as he stays healthy all year i think he'll be very solid. As of right now, i don't think he's having any problems and he missed last season altogether so he should have come into this year at or near 100%.

Picked him up and kept him on my roster for a month now. Up to this point has not been this impressive but was highly touted coming out of the spring......Figured the reward would be worth the risk of a roster spot

He was supposed to be the guy that the Jays were gonna build they're rotation, not Halladay.
Yes, I was, uh... I was thinking about ordering the tape, the videotape... about the college girls and the... the wild... the wildness. They're going wild or something? Somebody told me... about going wild.

From Rotoworld after his start today:

Chris Carpenter - S - STL May. 15 - 5:28 pm et

Chris Carpenter pitched 7 1/3 shutout innings today in a win over the Marlins.
Carpenter is now 4-1 with a 3.86 ERA. In his last five starts, he's given up a total of 10 runs and has a 0.93 WHIP. We don't think it's a good idea to pick up Carpenter in mixed leagues, but he's looking like a real asset in NL-only leagues.

Yeah, "good idea not to pick him up". Who needs a SP averaging 2 runs per start and a WHIP less than 1.00? Not to mention that ghastly 4-1 record.

Can Carpenter get some love?!?! ;-D
