I was around 10 yrs old when he was playing....as kids playing whiffle ball, we'd call him "Baldy Balboni" ;-D

If you want to know what Balboni's swing was like - think big windmill style of Jeremy Burnitz. We all used to imitate him when we played ball in the streets as kids.

Good memories. Growing up in eastern Colorado before the Rockies got here I used to listen to the Royals broadcasts that would tune in and out, sometimes fading out at the worst times... and "Bye-Bye" Balboni was one of my favorites. I still think of him when I play wiffleball with my kids... swinging for the fences on each and every swing.

I remember "Bye-Bye" well when he played for the Nashville Sounds, as I remember, they were a Yankees farm team at the
time. At the time Nashville was strictly a minor league City- what
a difference from today. I predict Nashville will have a MLB team
within the next 5-10 years, we are not quite ready, but it won't
be long.

For those of you who remember him you know how slow he ran and amazingly his first hit as a major leaguer was a triple (1981). I remember that hit well.

Trivia Fact about Balboni. He was the last player to hit 35 or more homers for a World Series winning team (1985 Royals) until Luis Gonzalez with the D-Backs in 2001.
