i walked away from this draft feeling very good about the results, but i'd like a second/third/fourth opinion. any obvious shortcomings? trade/upgrade possibilities?

You can indeed feel very good about this team. If there's a weakness at all, it might turn out to be Jose Hernandez; I'd consider shopping Alomar for an upgrade.

Yes a strong team, love your SP, but to play devil's advocate, you gotta keep an eye on potential weak spots.

Irod/Grif/Juan - they've done it before, can they do it again after injury plagued seasons? This isn't 1999.

Baez may causing probs to your ERA and WHIP. The saves you'll get from him in a 5x5 league may not be worth it, and you may decide you're better off with a strong set up guy with solid WHIP and ERA.

i'm most worried about irod, but i figure i could slide another catcher off waivers if he gets injured again. i can't afford injuries to both griff and juan gone, but i think i can fill in if just one of them goes out of commission. i actually think griffey will have a huge season this year. something along the lines of 280/45/120. too optimistic?

i also agree baez might be the weak point among my relief, and i actually would've loved to have a dotel/rhodes/romero type, but since getting saves is so random, i feel i should hang onto him just to see how he does.

Great Staff! Looks like you got a lot of RP deals late in your draft. Well done. Best overall staff I've seen. You WILL have injury issues in your OF. Id have some solid bench guys ready to go....sitting alomar is a waste, trade him for a more robust OF
