As of today Tex is 14/69, which adds up to roughly .203.

Let's do some math.

how many hits does he need to get over the next two weeks to get his average to something more tolerable, like, say, .280?

Over two weeks the rangers will play 12 games... say he gets 3.5 at bats per game (allowing for walks and things of that nature) So he will have 42 at bats.

(14+HITS)/(69+42) = .280

this leads to HITS equal to about 17. So if teixeira hits .404 over the next two weeks his average will be at .280?

is this possible? yes. is it probably? maybe. the point is that all it will take is one short hot streak to bump him up to a good average.

even if he only hits 400 for the next week his average overall will go up to about .244 if he hits .500 it'll be at .277

small number statistics can be deceiving. . .

OK, I didn't pick up Burroughs after all. Instead I picked up Orlando Hudson on May 11th. I benched Rentaria for now, moved Mike Young to SS and put Hudson at 2B. Hudson is "en fuego" right now!!! Also, I think Tex is starting to heat up, which is a good sign. I'll tried to trade for Blalock by offering Beckett or Carlos Zambrano, buth his owner wouldn't budge. I'll hold on to Hudson for now. He has high trade value right now so I may move him...
