With a man on first Vlad hit a fly that landed in front of the Sheff the right fielder-the man on first misread the ball and was forced out at second. So why the hell did Guerrero not get credit for a hit? I imagine there's some kind of asinine rule to blame for this but does anyone know what it is? I mean wtf he got a hit the man on first made a mistake so he gets blamed for it? Please please explain.
it sounds like it should be a hit to me. Yeah there was a force out at second but the runner should have been there. Vlad scored a run so that made up for the hit I guess.
Agreed. I think it was just a bad call by the official scorer unless there is some obscure rule I'm not aware of.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
There's a possibility that could be changed later on tonight then, unless, like you said, its a rule that we are not aware of. I hope it does get overturned, the run was nice, but a hit on top of it would be even nicer.
it is the correct scoring decision.
it was a 9-6 force out. therefore guerrero grounded out to right field.
Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he'll drown because you forgot to teach him to swim.

Yep, no hit. Someone could rip it off the Green Monster at Fenway and if the runner on first gets thrown out at second, it's just a fielder's choice.
Roger Angell: I was talking with Bob Gibson and I said: 'Are you always this competitive?' He said: 'Oh, I think so. I got a three-year old daughter, and I've played about 500 games of tic-tac-toe with her and she hasn't beat me yet.'
Too bad it's not a hit. The way Melo was bitching about it, I think him not getting a hit right there cost him the fantasy baseball world series title. Better luck next year Melo.

Very funny. Usefull info.
To everyone else, thanks for the replies I still think it's a moronic rule since the mistake was not his and the only person who statistically is hurt by the play is him. It wouldn't have bothered me all that much except the next friggin pitch was hit out and I also have Vazquez starting so it turned out to be a complete bust of an inning.
