Felix Rodriguez - R - SF May. 12 - 11:58 am et

Look for Felix Rodriguez to get some save opportunities when Giants' manager Felipe Alou wants to rest closer Matt Herges.
Herges is being over-used right now, and Rodriguez has pitched well this season (2.60 ERA, .177 batting average against). If you need a few saves, and who doesn't, consider acquiring Rodriguez if the price is right.

makes you wonder if Herges could lose his job.

Makes me wonder if this is just going to be another silly Koch/Marte situation brewing... :-?

Here's the actual quote from Felipe in today's Contra Costa Times:

"I have talked to Felix about the possibility of helping Herges, if we get on a winning streak. I used to call Timmy (Worrell) a low-energy stopper. He could pinpoint the ball. Obviously his arm never got overworked. Herges is a maximum energy guy. Every pitch he gives his maximum effort."

And that's it. I wouldn't be so quick to grab Rodriguez, but then I wouldn't want to own Herges either.

My view is that Felix has two pitches. 4 seam fast ball, and a pretty killer slider. His new change-up isn't bad, but I dont think we'll see it too often, as sometimes he hangs it, and boom, goodnight.

The thing with Felix, is that if he's off, he's hittable. He's not a solid consistent closer/setup as he used to be, otherwise, he would of been the primary closer.

I think you may be reading into it too much - when they say they;re resting herges, they may be in fact, just resting herges.

herges doenst seem to be a 3-up 3-down kinda guy - more of a finesse pitcher that relies on pop-ups and ground balls to get his saves.

i think they may start grooming felix, just in case herges fouls up or gets hurt. makes sense. could be an indication Nen isn't on his way back....

help answer any of my current posts. thanks!
