San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - The San Diego Padres activated infielder Jeff Cirillo from the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday.
The 34-year-old was injured in early April on a bunt attempt during an exhibition game against Texas. He broke the tip of his right finger on the play.
Cirillo was acquired in an off-season trade with Seattle. Last year, he batted just .205 with two homers and 23 RBI in 87 games.
To make room on the roster, the Padres returned pitcher Jason Szuminski to the Chicago Cubs. The righty, a Rule 5 draft pick, spent time in the Padres bullpen in 2004.
