Kansas City, MO (Sports Network) - The Kansas City Royals optioned pitcher Mike MacDougal to Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday. An All-Star last season as a rookie, MacDougal has struggled in 2004.
The righthander was 0-1 with a 10.80 ERA and just one save this season. He was 3-3 with 24 saves and a 2.59 ERA when he was selected to the All-Star Game last July. Following the break, he went 0-2 with three saves and a 6.85 ERA.
The Royals also optioned outfielder David DeJesus to Omaha and recalled pitcher Justin Huisman. The other available roster spot was used to purchase the contract of outfielder Adrian Brown from Omaha. The club also transferred pitcher Kyle Snyder to the 60-day disabled list.
