Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - The Baltimore Orioles activated second baseman Jerry Hairston from the disabled list on Tuesday.
The 27-year-old Hairston had been out of action since spring training with a broken finger and has not played in a regular season game in 2004. The right ring finger was injured on March 4 when he slid into third base.
In 2003, Hairston batted .271 with 21 RBI in 218 at-bats and 58 contests.
Brian Roberts started in Hairston's place so far this season and owns a .315 average along with eight runs batted in and 15 stolen bases.
To make room on their roster, the Orioles placed lefty hurler Matt Riley on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Monday.
Also on Tuesday, the club recalled right-hander Daniel Cabrera from Double-A Bowie.
