Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - One week after being activated off the disabled list, Seattle Mariners relief pitcher Rafael Soriano was again placed on the 15-day DL on Tuesday, this time with a sprained ligament in his elbow.
Soriano, who missed time earlier this season with a strained oblique muscle, is 0-3 with a 13.50 ERA in six appearances this season. The move is retroactive to Monday.
The Mariners describe the sprain as mild.
Seattle, which is set to begin a three-game set against the Twins on Tuesday, recalled infielder Ramon Santiago from Triple-A Tacoma to fill the empty roster spot.
