Classic case of a closer getting thrown into a non-save blowout to get a little work. I hate it when that happens, because they invariably get smacked a little. Don't worry, he still has the job and he'll be fine.

Betancourt didn't get smacked last night in a non-save situation. In fact, he was the one doing the smacking, 3 Ks in one inning.

True. I don't buy the idea that closers become bad all of a sudden in non-save situations.

Does it not make sense that the man had not pitched since May 5th?

i'm just sick of starting a week w/ a brutal ERA & WHIP.. I'm calming down by breathing into a plastic bag at my desk. My blood pressure shot thru the roof when I saw that 9ERA sitting next to valverde's name.
