Boston, MA (Sports Network) - Boston Red Sox outfielder Manny Ramirez missed Monday's 10-6 loss against Cleveland because he was in Miami being sworn in as a United States citizen.
Ramirez, who turns 32 on May 30, was born in the Dominican Republic and came to the United States at age 13.
The Red Sox have now lost two straight games and hold a one-half game lead over the New York Yankees for first place in the AL East.
Ramirez is batting .369 with eight homers and 21 RBI in 31 games this season.
Brian Daubach started in left field in place of Ramirez and went 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBI.
