WOW! Family I didn't know I had. This is a legit list, the same thing happened on these dates and not again since 79, which by the way is probably the most widely know date for this to happen.
Give the man a run. Yes these are the last four forfeits in baseball, the last being July 12, 1979 the night of the famous "Disco Demolition" promotion.
I'm not sure but I am told he has a collection of Bee Gee's albums Actually I saw a blurb on tv with a reference to DD night in Chicago a day or two after I posted this and I expected it would go quick.
Actually, I know a ton about '76 through '79. The Yanks were great and Thurman Munson died. I was little then, but my dad, my brother and I made a scrap book containing tons of articles, etc. from those seasons, and all of the Munson memories articles. The only one I knew was the '79 one when the White Sox forfeited to the Tigers because of a bunch of drunken fans tearing the whole field up! Wasn't positive of the day, but I couldn't think of another forfeit since then.
I think the best baseball fans are those who started as kids. I have found over the years that going to a baseball game just doesn't have the same meaning it did when I was younger. We used to go to 4 or 5 games at Fenway every summer when I was a kid. Now I might go to one or two games a year at Safeco Field and then only when a friend of mine gives me tickets to a game (He has seats 2 rows back of the visitor dugout). Sigh....to be a kid again
