Wondering what y'all think. Obviously a 1 for 1 trade, I'm not telling who I have/am getting to keep everything objective.

I have these projections:

Tejada- .275-30-110-10 (might get up to .280 at Camden)
Giles- .305-28-105-10 (Petco into consideration...I was thinking nearly 35 preseason)

Even with Tejada's position boost, I would rather have Giles and his higher average. What do y'all say? Projections would be very welcome.

Tejada. You say "position boost" like it's some passing thing. However, good OFs are plentiful (not as good as Giles obviously) and power-hitting SS are damn rare.

It really depends on your team. All else being equal, I'd rather have Tejada.

id take tejada as well and im wonderin why u projected his avg to be so low

If you can find a spot in the hitting for Tejada, I'd take him over Giles easily.

Look at his average over past years:

1999: .251
2000: .275...real breakout at 30 homers
2001: .267
2002: .308
2003: .278

The .308 seems like a fluke. .280 or .285 tops, IMO.

Tejada puts up good numbers at a thinner posistion then Giles, so Id have to go with Tejada.

Tejada over Giles. Position boost is very very important.

You can find plenty of outfielders who will hit 25-30 homers and drive in 100 runs on the wire. Jay Gibbons could do it, Reggie Sanders hit 31 homers last year. Just off the top of my head. There are plenty of guys like that who likely are not on anybody's teams. You have to look at it from an entire team perspective. Even if your projections are accurate, you need to figure out what your projections would be with your SS/OF combo before and after this trade.

If you have Tejada and trade him, who would you replace him with? Would that guys production plus B-Giles be better than Tejada + your current outfielder. If you have Giles, would Giles + your current shortstop outproduce Tejada + replacement OF? I don't know what you've got in the works, but I'm willing to bet your team is better off with Tejada on it.

I'm gonna guess that you are the one getting Giles.

I would rather have Tejada.
