San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - Jimmy Haynes, who has just two victories since the start of last season, is no longer a part of the plans for the Cincinnati Reds. On Monday the team asked for unconditional release waivers on the veteran righthander.
Haynes has tallied only a 2-15 record in 23 appearances since the start of 2003. He was 0-3 with a 9.60 ERA in five games this season, including four starts.
The 31-year-old Haynes was successful in his first season in Cincinnati going 15-10 in 34 starts, but he's struggled since. Last year, Haynes compiled a 2-12 mark with a 6.30 ERA in 18 starts.
In his final start for the Reds, Haynes was torched for five hits and six runs -- five earned -- in three innings in a loss last Tuesday versus Milwaukee.
During his career, Haynes has posted a 63-89 record with a 5.37 ERA. He has also pitched for Baltimore, Oakland and Milwaukee.
