Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - The Anaheim Angels placed outfielder Darin Erstad on the 15-day disabled list Sunday with a strained right hamstring.
The injury occurred when Erstad was trying to score from second base in the third inning of a 7-2 victory over Tampa Bay on Saturday night.
Erstad finished 0-for-2 and had his 14-game hitting streak snapped.
Last season Erstad experienced tendinitis in his lower right hamstring and was limited to 67 games -- the fewest since he joined the Angels in 1996. He had two separate stints on the disabled list and batted a career low .252.
In 30 games this season, Erstad is batting .264 with 20 RBI.
Meanwhile, the team called up Casey Kotchman to take Erstad's spot. Kotchman was called up directly from the Arkansas Travelers and was batting .368 with three home runs with 18 RBI in 28 games.
