Really tough injury to watch, came up in lots of pain. It's unfortunate to see a classy guy like that get hurt.

My question now becomes, who plays 1B? The Angels are not light on hitting, but who can play first without the lineup missing too much of a beat? Does DaVanon play any first? Just curious, because this injury could have significant fantasy implications with regards to who gets playing time as a result of it.

probably quinlan. he is a prototypical young first baseman. he hit over 300 in the minors. he is on the current roster. I guess davanon might see some time too.

edit - maybe even both molinas might get to play.

Too bad, I thought Erstad was going to have a comeback season this year. :,-(

Sean Tracey has my apologies, we all know Ozzie Guillen is an idiot. I'm rooting for you!

They wouldn't do it, but minor leaguer Casey Kotchman's already a better hitter than anyone else they could insert. But like Erstad, is injury prone.

It'll probably be Quinlan (who replaced him 2nite) as the above poster stated.

between garret anderson's mystery back illness, glaus' issues and now erstad's pain I wouldn't be surprised if chone gets tons of playing time... I wouldn't even be surprised if they were to put glaus at 1B and keep chone at 3rd, or some strange combo like that... he's good for the team, they will find room for him to hit.

I don't think they will either since the season is only about a month old, but if he is out for a long time and they don't get any production. I could see Kotchman getting the call, the kid is a absolute hitting machine...arguable the best hitting prospect in the minors. As of now he is killing double a pitching, while hitting .368 .... i seem to remember a certain hitting prospect getting called up by the marlins. but the two situations are different. halos have plenty of hitting and lowell was hurt later in the year so cabrera had more time in the minors. So most likely won't happen unless this keeps erstad out for the majority of the year.
