I picked him up a week ago cause of his great average and other good numbers. However, I found out just after that he sits against most lefties, so I have tried to guess when he'd sit out. But a few times I have been wrong, and either lost his production if he actually played, or lost somebody else's production if I started him if he actually didnt play. I know he's a good hitter, but I am just wondering if its worth it to have him on my team if I have to take the chance that he doesnt play one day. Should I keep him and hope he plays everyday, or drop him for another more predictable player? Or should I look to trade him to an owner who will not know that he doesnt play every day? If trading is the best option, who could I look to get for him?
I don't know what kind of douchebags are in your league, but no-one in my leagues will trade for a guy who was immediately picked up off of waivers. I'm not saying I wouldn't do it personally...if there is someone out there who just got picked up, and I really think he's worth it, then sure, why not. I'm not principled against it. But if you think you're gonna be able to trade guys you pick up off of free agency or waivers when you no longer want them, you are either comically wrong or in a league with some huge sacks of shit.
Well thanks for that. If I win my league now I will be very proud of my accomplishment. Actually, the guys in my league are not dumbasses, but they dont chech details very often. A few of them even told me that they were about to pick up Nix when I did, so I know that they would be interested in him. I would probably package him with somebody else in a trade, so it wouldnt be just Nix for somebody.
I guess I would like advice more along the lines of "should I keep him or not?" And please refrain from insulting me or my league, especially if you are a Bush supporter, as you already have lost a tad of my repsect.
I picked up Nix about 10 days ago and was aware he sits against
LHP- you should have known that too. Since then he's missed games
due to a turf toe and a stomach virus. I wanted him as a reserve
OF and dropped him today, love his power, but IMO you don't want
a reserve player who will not play when he should. For example,
I have D Ortiz, he sits against LHP, but you can book he will play
against RHP. If you can trade him to another owner who isn't paying
attention, more power to you, but, don't take it personal when
other posters are critical of your league. There is no chance in hell
I could have traded Nix, in fact, I will be shocked if he is picked up
as a FA must less off the waiver wire. BTW, put me in the Bush
camp.
