While they arent better than the cards, its not hitting that wins you the playoffs. Its pitching. Thats why the Cardinals wont be making the playoffs this year. There staff is a joked compared to the cubs and the astros. On a side note, give me the Cubs staff over the Astros any day .
No disrespect to the Cubs. They have some very good hitters and I know pitching is what matters but we were just discussing hitting here. And it is impossible to say the Cubs have a better lineup than St. Louis, while I agree with your other points.
Read the bold. Didnt I say they arent better than the cards? . as for hitting, on paper it looks like the best is the yankees, but they have definitely underperformed. I like how the Astros have hit, so they would be my #1 hitting team. Of course I hate the yankees though
Yeah I said I was agreeing with you. Cards have the better lineup but horrid pitching so the Cubbies definately have the better team. No questions there.
I corrected myself later and apologized for saying splits and really meant stats from the past 3 years. However you told me that is what you gave me.
And the only person that agreed with you was jpbusta and the only reason he could give was - .
Cubsfan also just agreed with me that Cubs have a worse lineup than St. Louis. And jpbusta just seemed disgusted with your choices that he felt there was no use of arguing if you thought those teams were better. That's just my take though.
You know, now that I really think about it, I concede to you that the Cubs and Phillies don't have a better line-up than the Cards.
However the BoSox, with a healthy Nomar are better than the Cards.

If you don't believe me go look up their three year splits yourself.

Oh I have looked. Berkman had an offyear last season but still put up stats close to Chipper. The year before he blew Chipper completely out of the water. Berkman is also younger and in his prime. Chipper has declined ALOT over the past years and is getting older.
Most people will say Berkman definately is better than Chipper.
Hey I never said Chipper was better than Berkman, I say they're equal. They're stats are very similar, too similar in fact to say one is better than the other.
