Wells is hitting .345 in 8 games in May.
People who freaked out should have looked at his April splits from the last two years.
2002: .230 in April on the way to a .275 100 RBI season in his first full season
last year: .246 in April on the way to becoming MLB's hit leader
.211 in April this year
He probably won't have the final numbers that a 3rd or 4th round pick should have (where many picked him) but I still expect good numbers. With his slow start, I'm thinking
.290+ 27 HRs 105 RBIs 100 R 8 SBs

I still think he'll crack 30 homers this year. Once Toronto gets the ball rolling he'll easily knock in 100 and bat .290-.310 range as you said.

vernon was my 2nd round pick and I'd be very regretful if he ended up with 30 homers and .300 ba.

A hot 2nd half and his numbers could look like:
.305-.310
35 HRs
115 RBIs
105 Rs
I'll take that anyday but I agree 30-100-.300 is a little low for a 2nd or 3rd rounder.

At least you didn't take Nomar with your second pick!
But yeah...I was definitely one of those panicking Wells owners (I didn't draft him, but i traded oswalt and kaz matsui for him, dah!) and I was gettin antsy...he had 4 days to go before I was gonna just sell low on him, trying to avoid Pat Burrell syndrome...then he went yack twice the other day and I'm glad my roomate kept kickin me in the a$$ until I agreed to just be patient!
Rest in peace Mitch Hedberg. I name my fantasy team "Buoyancy of Citrus", in your honor.
