Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - Philadelphia placed second baseman Placido Polanco on the 15-day disabled list after Friday's 4-1 win over Arizona.
Polanco aggravated his strained left calf running out a ground ball in the eighth. The injury has bothered him for two weeks.
A similar injury cost him 16 games last season. This season, Polanco is batting .223 with one homer and one RBI.
According to manager Larry Bowa, the Phillies hope to recall infielder Chase Utley from Triple-A Scranton in time for Saturday's game against Arizona.
