Raul Mondesi is returning home to the Dominican Republic for personal reasons. It's unknown when he will return.
"He's going to the Dominican Republic to be with his family, and we support that decision," general manager David Littlefield said. Mondesi's absence should allow both Jason Bay and Tike Redman to play regularly for now.


I don't like the sound of this at all. The worst thing is, I traded him away last week but the azzholes in my league vetoed it!

I can't rememger what I saw it on (TV that is) or if this is what you're refferring to, but aparently this year he's been quite a different clubhouse guy then in the past. He's actually been a blessing to have around the young guys and someone that has been helping the team off the field. I thought it was a terrible idea to put a guy with Mondesi's history in a clubhouse with so many young guys, but whatever report I saw talking about him made him out to be a good veteran to help lead the kids and not a cancer to the clubhouse.

I think it may have been somewhere on ESPN considering that my television is stuck on it a lot...

the pirates needed another hitter, and there wasn't much out there at that time that they could afford. They did what they could in acquiring mondesi.

not like his value was that great anyways. no one is hitting him in, he's hitting no one in, only 2 hr's, and worst of all zero SB's. all his numbers look like they are in decline. no offense and they aren't even letting him run which would help his value a lot. if your not in a deep league just dump him.
