you know how you can get a save if the tying run is on deck , say its a 4 run lead, if there is 2 men on, you would get the save

Well does the same go for holds also ???

i would asume yes but not sure

If you enter the game in a save situation and leave without giving up the lead, it is a hold. Pretty lame statistic, but guess there needs something for the non-closers to negotiate contracts.

Here is the definition for a hold...from the MLB rule book....

A relief pitcher is credited with a hold any time he enters a game in a save situation, records at least one out and leaves the game never having relinquished the lead. A pitcher cannot finish the game and receive credit for a hold, nor can he earn a hold and a save in the same game.
