Hmmm alright, doesn't take much talking into to make me smack on Juan "When is he gonna be" Gone.
He currently putting up one of the worst fielding performances in the history of the Royals. A .946 Feilding Percentage put him in the bottom third of the league, and the errors only account for part of his problem. His determination to jog at any ball hit in his direction has allowed several hits to fall that could have been reached easily with any sort of effort. Having Beltran in center has been his greatest salvation allowing him to only really attempt balls at him or to his left.
On a offensive production note, he has always been a streaky hitter. He can get RBI's and HR's in bunches, but so far he has been a failure when it comes to clutch hitting. The 3-run jack in the Rangers game may be the first meaningful hit of the year for him. Most others coming in the "bases empty HR down by 5" variety or "base hit up by 7". With a game on the line there are only one or two players I would take Juan batting over on the club.
He might turn it around and be a productive guy. I hope so, but he is going to have to do a lot more now to get back in the good graces of the fans. 40 HR 100 RBIs might not be enough anymore with the utter lack of effort he has shown when the team is struggling and needs him the most.
