Interesting Info on Tejada...

Postby Freebird27 » Fri May 07, 2004 3:05 pm

In talking to some guys I know online regarding a Tejada deal..he said he knows someone close to Tejada and says he is 30, not the advertised 27

I consider the guy a good source considering he does know some people in sports in the Bay Area....Another interesting Dominican paperwork error?

you dont actually assume something like this if a rumor starts floating around... who knows maybe hes 98 and Barry Bonds is only 27 but to think that hes 30 cos of a Dominican paperwork error is more like a lil bit of "stereotyping"... dont wanna offend you and i know some fishy stuff like this has maybe happened before but id think twice before even considering believing "some guy online" who "knows some people in sports in the Bay Area" over legal documents. ;-)
Manny Ramirez....$20 million
Pedro Martinez....$17.5 million
Curt Schilling...$12 million (and a $2 million bonus)
Never hearing a Yankee fan chant 1918 again...priceless.

Just passing some info on..take it for what its worth. ALthough I don't think the term "Legal Documents" has near the weight when players from other countrys come into the league.

I care. It would make a difference in the way people view Tejada as a keeper if he were in fact 3 yrs older than he says.

I would care, but I would like hard evidence much like Soriano's before I believe it...

Considering that a player is supposedly entering his prime at 27-28 I think it makes a difference where a keeper is concerned. For this year it probably doesnt matter, but when considering a keeper it would be good to know. Again it is pretty much hear say from a reliable source IMO..but like I sayed, take it for what you will

I was VERY concerned that this was going to be about Tejada peeing on his hands!!

He still looks a bit youngish for a 30 year old to me. I've only caught the O's once this year though, that Sunday night game in Baltimore. I didn't really run into the problem of having a 27 year old vs. 33 year old in the draft but, if I did, I'd pick the 27 year old over an older player whenever possible.

If there was any real support for this then yes, I'd say it's worth caring about. As it is it sounds like a weak, post-Danny Almonte rumor and I certainly wouldn't let it affect where I decided to draft a player.
