I haven't heard anything about Wickman in a long time. This guy was slated to be the closer at the beginning of the year in Cleveland. Does anyone know when Wickman will return and/or have any idea of he could step into the closers role when he does?

wickman seems off the map - i wouldnt even consider him coming back this year

ride betancourt well he has the job and try and trade him for something at the half.

Wickman had a very lackluster small minor league stint at the end of last season, and he keeps having little setbacks with that elbow of his. Seems like whenever he takes the mound to throw in practices or intrasquad games or whatever he'll feel a twinge or something and the Indians organization freaks out and shuts him down.

Don't expect him to be back before the all-star break if at all.... :-t

Jimenz just came off the DL -- you've got to look at him as a potential closer in CLE.

41 Saves in COL 2 years ago and he's walking into a staff that couldn't find the strike zone with GPS and a pack of bloodhounds.

If Bentancourt falters -- at all -- I think Jose will at least get a shot.

Thx for the tip. Whoever it is I need to keep Cleveland's steals locked down. Hopefully Betancourt can keep it up for awhile.

anybody know when Wickman is due back ... ??

I mean they just handed him the job when he attempted to come back this spring, I don't see why they couldn't do it again. Its a situation worth watching ...

Supposedly they're hoping that Wickman might be able to return in August, but that's about the most optimistic scenario.

I might be trading Betancourt, so I hope Wickman comes back, or Jiminez gets the job. :-)

Rotoworld says this about Riske:

It was a non-save situation as the Indians were losing 5-2 at the time, but Riske did not allow a hit and struck out two batters. He seems to be improving, but it may be another week or so until he is ready to resume closing duties in Cleveland. Be patient.

Is this just Rotoworld talking without really knowing what's going on? Or is Riske really on a temporary leave from the position? I can't imagine replacing Betancourt until he at least blows a save, he has looked outstanding so far.
