Milwaukee, WI (Sports Network) - The Milwaukee Brewers Wednesday signed outfielder Scott Podsednik to a two-year contract extension. The deal will keep Podsednik with the club through the 2006 campaign.
The 28-year-old Podsednik is batting .291 with three homers, eight RBI and 14 stolen bases in 26 games this season.
"We are pleased to have Scott signed through the 2006 season," said executive vice president and general manager Doug Melvin. "He has been an integral part of our club at the top of our lineup and he is very popular with our fans."
Podsednik had a strong rookie campaign in 2003, as he hit .314 with 100 runs scored and 43 stolen bases. He became just the fourth rookie in Major League Baseball history since 1900 to bat .300, steal 40 bases and score 100 runs.
Podsednik finished second to Florida's Dontrelle Willis in last year's NL Rookie of the Year balloting.
