While Brian is a slow starter and is expected to warm up a bit, I still think that he is starting to get old...the slow starts get slower and the hot times will be cooler. I'd take Marcus over him without a second thought...if they were the same position...but they're not, so that's that.

Ummm...Marcus over Brian at the same position? =
Fantasy wise, Marcus has more value because he steals, and his power isn't that much behind Brian's. His speed makes up for his less power.

Hmmm...my predictions for these two...
Brian
100runs 30hr 100rbi .310avg 10sb
Marcus
90runs 20hr 85rbi .300avg 20sb
In my eyes, that is a no brainer AT the same position. Brian is a better hitter right now, period. Especially in my league where OPS is a category, which Brian will surely finish at least .050 higher.
.315, 20 HRs, 90 runs, 80 RBI, 25 steals. I think he's more valuable, even at the same position....though I can see the argument for Brian also. It's a personal preference I think.

i was thinking the same thing. i bet there family get togethers are freaking sweet. i would love to have thanksgiving dinner at the giles house, talk baseball, maybe get a softball game going. this post seems pretty gay, but i just love baseball.

That's cool. I really don't think Marcus is going to hit .315 again, but I guess we'll see.

Here here!
Imagine if Marcus can develop Brian's great patience....

In a keeper league, the case can be made for Marcus. Remember though, Brian has proven year after year that he can hit and he is only 32-33. Just saying that they started out similar in their careers is cool and all, but it doesn't mean that Marcus is guaranteed to proceed at pretty much the same pace as Brian did. There are no guarantees about anyone, of course, so that brings you back to the same thing that you need to consider when evaluating and hot up-and-comer vs an established superstar. Who is more likely to produce consistently? The guy that has proven over and over that he can? Or the guy that has had one great season and started out hot the next?
Nobody can guarantee either way, but if I had the choice between the two at the same position, I'm going with Brian every time because I can predict with much more confidence the numbers that I posted a little bit earlier. Marcus doesn't have the track-record to have that much confidence in.
