Name every other hitter to have hit 300 home runs by the time Babe Ruth retired with 714...

I would swear they were just talking about this on ESPN the other night comparing Bonds and Ruth. I am thinking there were 3 others with over 300 Ott, Gehrig, and Foxx.

Gehrig is correct - score the run. ;-D Foxx reached 300 in 1935, but only after Ruth retired (just foul...). Ott was still in the 200's...

There is a second player who had 300 - someone we don't usually think of as a home run hitter...

Nice one! Hornsby had exactly 300 when Ruth retired, and added one more two years later.

Hmm... I didn't think that one was that easy. And how about the tight trivia race? :-D

The key points were 300 HR's and "not known as a HR hitter." That's got Hornsby written all over it, if you concentrate on the pre-Ruthian era. :-D
