Miami, FL (Sports Network) - Florida Marlins reliever Chad Fox is expected to miss the next four weeks with an elbow injury.
Fox, a righthander, is hampered with ulnar neuritis and visited noted sports surgeon Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Alabama. Fox was instructed not to throw for four weeks.
The 33-year-old Houston native was placed on the disabled list last week after injuring his elbow in a game versus Philadelphia on April 21. He struggled in his last outing on April 27, yielding three runs on one hit. Fox threw 12 pitches and only two for strikes.
Fox has an 0-1 record with a 6.75 ERA in 12 games this season for the defending World Series champions.
Florida (15-10) is idle Monday and will open a three-game series versus Los Angeles on Tuesday at Pro Player Stadium.
