Least Favorite Indian of All Time

After thiking about my favorite guys it made me have some not so fond memories of some guys I loved to hate. I'll start this thread off with two that should be on everybody's list.

Albert Belle and Jose Mesa.

No explanation should be necessary.

gotta agree with you on mesa, despite the fact that he is helping my fantasy team this year, I cringe when i hear his name.

Not sure if you were being serious or not, but with regards to his playing on the field I didn't really have a problem with Belle at all. Apart from the corked bat incident (which I didn't hold against him that much), he was a huge asset for Cleveland.... I have a problem with how big of a jerk he was off the field. The guy had some serious issues, and I'm not talking about his problems with alcohol that he used to have. Here's a couple of not so fond memories.

During the '95 World Series, Belle cursed his lips off at Hannah Storm. She was just waiting in the dugout for a prearranged interview with Kenny Lofton, but good ol' Joey tried to boot her out of the dugout and had some choice words.

In 96, Belle requested a meeting with a fan who caught a home run ball. Normally in that situation the fan would give the home run ball back in exchange for an autographed ball (assuming it isn't a huge milestone of a homerun, which this one wasn't really if I recall correctly). I can't remember all the details, but Belle cursed at the fan and told him he wouldn't be getting sh-- for the home run ball (I do remember the fan left the park with the ball ).

Then probably that same year had my favorite incidents, that did not involve just talking like an asshole, but physically acting in the same way he was talking. He threw two balls at a Sports Illustrated photography, he threw a ball at a fan during a game (I believe he hit the fan) because the fan was being taunting Belle, and he came close to running over some kids, with his car, who egged his house because he wasn't handing out candy on halloween.

If it weren't for that arthritic hip he could have put up huge numbers and been a great baseball player for a longer period of time, but he was a complete and total mean person. That's why I hate Albert. A lot of players talk like jerks, but most aren't blatantly mean like Belle was. I don't have much of a problem with arrogant smack talking athletes, but Belle was much different than that. It wasn't just competitiveness with other players that showed him being a mean jerk. He was mean to the fans, the media, and the community.

I have a lot of fond Indians memories from late 60's to early 80's. Can't say there are any from that ere that I don't like.

Jose Mesa got a bad rap - he kinda died under pressure, but he was definitely an asset to the team.

Belle was a nasty guy, no question about it.

You've got to be kidding me. I guess you arn't an Indians fan. Albert Belle freaking carried the Indians to the playoffs in the 90s. He was the best player in baseball. I think you must be joking about this dude. We went from being the worst team in baseball in the early 90s and then Belle blew up and we were unstoppable. I mean damn what did you want, Belle gone and absolutley no shot at the playoffs. You dont deserve to be a Indians fan. I am a huge Indians fan, have been for 30 years. Belle is THE BEST Indian(if not player peroid) I have ever seen.

Mesa is the worst...along with Hargrove for pulling Mike Jackson in the series...thanks for losing us that one fellas.
I agree, Belle was dominate, met the guy in spring training too...great guy, hope he makes the hall someday.
