LOL, there was no pressure on him. It's a game for fun, not a real one. The Dodger's didn't have a chance in hell of making the World Series.

How about 69 saves in a row? Not too shabby. Not to mention his record setting K/9 last year of 15. How you would want ANY closer other than him is beyond me. You can't get any better than his 2003 season.

I was glad to see the kid take him downtown.

I realize no one's stats count in that game BUT I have a hard time swallowing those 69 saves knowing he gave it up (after all, you're talking about perfection). The streak is there but I know the real story.

And don't even get me started on the state of the All-Star game. That's a whole 'nother thread waiting to happen.

Of course, I think the original question is a bit biased. One of the main reasons for choosing Gagne is his durability. You're throwing that right out the window. It's like saying "who would you rather have for one game in which both are healthy: Ken Griffey Jr or Magglio Ordonez." It's impossible to really answer because the question disregards the fact that Gagne can come in and save games 5 times a week.

I'm just asking.....in a big situation, who do you want pitching?

Think of it this way.....game 7 of the world series, 9th inning winning by 1 run with runner on 2nd base and no outs....Who do YOU want on the mound?

gagne has filthy stuff, and will get more save opps than Rivera. Remember, in order to get a save, a team cant be winning by more than 3 runs. With that Yankees lineup, I dont see too many close games. However LA is more likely to have closer games and therefore more save opps. Id take Gagne in real life and in fantasy. I think Mariano proved how he does in pressure situations in 2001
