Probably the way I woulda ranked them going into the year. Penny's pitching in a pitcher's paradise and hitting the prime of his career.
I've just never really bought into Webb. He could win the Cy Young and I don't think I'd ever draft/buy him.
Zambranos got a lot of emotional problems, like when he gives up a couple hits, he gets frustrated and that leads to 4 or 5 more hits, while Webb is one of the most consistent pitchers out there (dunno what happened vs Phillies), I havent seen Penny pitched so im putting him at the bottom.
Games like todays and Zambranos 1 hit CG make him look real good, but Im not sold completely on him yet, although I do have him on 2 of my teams. And his 24 consecutive innings without an ER is looking nice
i like zambrano better as well.... part of it has to do with the fact that i've seen him pitch a lot more than i've seen webb... webb has good stats but zambrano is a fiesty little sucker... he fears no one and has the stuff to back up his bravado...
omg who cares if hes emotional, this isnt Therapy. If the guy is angry at himself for giving up a hit, well he should be. Its his job not to allow hits. I remember people also say that Kerry Wood is too emotional. So would you not take him as your ace because he gets a bit angry sometimes? Give me Zambrano, he has nasty stuff, and now hes becoming a strikeout pitcher. 11 today, 12 last start, a amazingly low WHIP and ERA. Plus hes what, 23? And I dont know what your talking about if he gives up a hit, he gives up more. Hes had one bad start, if it werent for that he would have like a sub 1 era. His WHIP is also miniscule, coming into today it was .99, and it will be even lower. Hes even got 44 ks in 49 IPHis ERA is also close to being sub 2.00. You cant argue with numbers like that. Webb has a 3.02 ERA with 1.32 WHIP, 2 wins and 35 Ks. (I might add that I like players who play with emotion, shows that they care about what they do.)
Emotional problems, give me a break you have to be kidding, Zammy and Penny are both way better than Webb in my opinion, Zammy is prolly the best out of the three though.
