He's hitting in the high 300's. Was always supposed to break out... reports are the When Velintin comes back he will play almost full time at 2B, SS, and 3B. Any opinions on this player that will soon be a 3 spot guy? I know he's nothing at 3B.. but is he in the Brian Roberts, Jack Wilson league at the other spots or are we talking maybe moving to the next level of the Berroas and Spiveys?

Uribe's just not that good. He seems to be outplaying Willie Harris for the White Sox, and could win the 2B job, but that's not saying too much. If he keeps on hitting, they'll probably put him at the top of the order, but so far in his career he's been disappointing. He had a chance to break out in Colorado, and didn't.

Yeah, I remember the knock on him was he'd swing at EVERY pitch, I guess this year he's eye is much stronger and is averageing 4.75 pitches an AB

I think I'm going to pick him up as he's on fire and is nice to have as a backup as he only takes one roster spot but can fill in at 3 spots

His last 4 games.....

9-14, 2 homers, 4 RBI, 5 runs, 1 SB, 3/1 BB/K

Just a heads up on how he's doing this week!

I remember a couple years ago in Colorado he hit something like .350 in April and early May, but then hit under .200 the rest of the way. Unless he's drastically changed his approach, I'd be wary of putting too much stock into his hot start.

Yeah, but for those of us who are waiting out Reyes, and have to choose between such bone pilers as Adam Everett (I used him last week), Cintron (pretty cold right now), and Jack Wilson (gone in my league), Uribe probably isn't a terrible guy to ride while hot.

Don't count on him being any kind of permanent performer though.
