Albert Belle retired two years ago. right? So why is he still on the Oriloles roster? And why is he still available in fantasy leagues if he won't play anyway? It just doesn't make any sense tom.. Someone please explain this one to me...

He still has a contact woth Baltimore. He is still getting paid even though hes not playing so that makes him eligible.

thats crazy isn't it. Just think of those people who are playing fantasy baseball for the first time and hear the name Albert Belle...They'll think: Hey I know this guy, he's great I think I'll add him!!! Oh well.

actually i believe that Baltimore has an insurance policy out on him and the only way they get to colloct that money is if he is on the roster.

BINGO joshparrish - The O's MUST keep Bell on the roster to collect on an insurance policy the took out on his contract in case he got injured.

As far as first time players picking him up - good. Helps me. If they don't know - shame on them. Knowledge is power, power is an absolute must in fantasy (HR, RBI etc ..)
