Which star players have you never had on your roster?

Postby NZF » Wed Apr 28, 2004 11:54 pm

I have been playing fantasy now for 4 years and been involved in a number of leagues in that time. Always 5 x 5 roto.

I have never had better than the 4th pick in any league and so have never had A-Rod or Soriano on my roster.

It got me thinking what other stud players I have never used. Here's my list. Apart from the early 1st round guys I guess it's because others over rate these guys in comparison to me.

A-Rod
Soriano
Manny
Bonds
Sosa
Jeter (little wonder :-D )
Giambi
Suzuki
Abreu
Delgado
Piazza
Rolen
Chavez
Billy Wagner
Mariano Rivera
Eric Gagne

Quite a few guys considering I've played in about 20 leagues.

The only starting pitchers I can think of are below this level. Guys like Maddux, Moyer and Glavine come to mind. I love those K's :-D
I have nothing against any of these guys and would gladly pick them up if they fell to me at the right time. Even Derek :-)

Anyone else played alot of fantasy but have never had so called Top guys on their roster?

Piazza is the big one for me being my favorite player. Have always wanted to grab him but someone always values the top catchers higher then me. :-/

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

Waaay too many to list. For no reason at all I have always wanted Delgado on my team and have never had him in 4 years of playing.

Sean Tracey has my apologies, we all know Ozzie Guillen is an idiot. I'm rooting for you!

Well, 3 years ago, you could have easily gotton Soriano with like a 5th round pick - the year he exploded for almost 40/40. That year, I had both ARod and Soriano. My team hit waaaay too many home runs that year lol.

They May Be Stars, but...

Postby jaronson » Thu Apr 29, 2004 12:38 am

...I have a "No Head Case" rule on my teams. So, I have never had Bonds on any of my teams or Albert Belle or John Rocker. You know the list.

I broke it once and drafted Gary Sheffield in the first round following his MVP year(95?). Bleh!

To many to name i'm sure. But one guy I know I'll never have is Barry Bonds. Never liked the guy. I wont disrespect what he can do with a bat.. but part of playing fantasy bball is that I can choose not to have a guy that thinks he can play when he wants. The other day when the Giants were down vs SD.. i was watching the game and they annouced that Bonds has taken himself outta the game for the rest of the night. That right there is something i wouldnt tolerate no matter if he is the best hitter of all-time or not.
