Alfonseca fallout

Now that Alfonseca is out 6 weeks who'll be the 'closer'. Hoping it's not going to be another committee. Anyone know? Appears to me that the options are: Veres, Remlinger and Farnsworth (is he hurt or something?)....Thanks in advance...

If I had to wager a guess, farnsworth would be my option. But Veres has 3 saves this spring. And guthrie is pitching well. Farnsworth has the best "closer stuff" though. I dont know anything about him being injured. And dont forget about remlinger...

My feelings wouldn't be hurt if it's Remlinger since I drafted him this morning with my next-to-last pick. The last I heard it was closer by committee, but Veres and Remlinger are thought to likely get the bulk of the save situations.

I'd say probably Remlinger. Farnsworth, when he's on, is a picture-perfect setup man, and I think the Cubs would like to use him as one. Hopefully he'll get over whatever was messing him up last year.

As a long shot, I would be only mildly surprised to see Juan Cruz get an opportunity at closer. He's got the stuff, and one of the primary concerns about him is his stamina in long games, which disappears when he's only asked to pitch one inning.

What's up with Borowski getting the saves? The other night I watched them and Borowski got the save based on how the bullpen was played out that night but I see he got a save yesterday too. Is Baker really looking to him in save opportunities now?
