San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - The Montreal Expos placed right-handed pitcher John Patterson on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday with a right groin strain.
The 26-year-old Patterson was acquired from the Arizona Diamondbacks for left-handed pitcher Randy Choate on March 25. In four starts for the Expos, Patterson is 1-2 with a 3.57 ERA, striking out 21 batters in 22.2 innings of work.
Patterson was originally selected by the Expos in the 1996 draft (fifth overall), but was later declared a free agent on a technicality and subsequently signed with Arizona.
In a related move, the Expos recalled right-handed pitcher T.J. Tucker from Triple-A Edmonton.
