(Sports Network) - The Padres earned a 3-0 win over Montreal last night in the second contest of a four-game series from PETCO Park.
Ismael Valdez tossed eight shutout innings to win his third straight start last night for the Padres and Adam Eaton will try to follow suit this evening as he takes the mound for San Diego.
Eaton is coming off a loss Friday at Arizona when he allowed nine hits and five runs -- four earned -- in 7 2/3 innings. The 26-year-old righthander's only career appearance against the Expos came August 23 of last year when he threw 7 1/3 shutout innings in a no-decision.
Mark Loretta finished with two hits, including a two-run homer, for San Diego in last night's game. The Padres have won eight of their last 11 contests.
The Padres and Expos are both currently in a stretch where they'll play 20 games in 20 days. This is game No. 16 for both clubs in that span.
San Diego has won four of the last five matchups with the Expos.
