Robb Nen believes he can return to the Giants before the All- Star break.

He wasn't able to be more specific: ''I don't know about a date, but we're definitely moving closer and closer.'' Manager Felipe Alou, on the other hand, hadn't seemed to have gotten the message, asking, ''Is he coming back?'' The reports on Nen continue to puzzle with their vaguerie.

April 25th.

To be honest, I wouldn't hope or plan on having Nen come back at all this season. That way it's a pleasant surprise if he does come back this season.

The later he comes back--if he does come back this season--it's possible the Giants might do what the Padres did with Hoffman last season and let him regain his strength as a set-up man.
