Giants place Hermanson on DL

San Francisco, CA (Sports Network) - The San Francisco Giants placed right- handed pitcher Dustin Hermanson on the 15-day disabled list Monday.

Hermanson is out with a lower back strain in a move which is retroactive to April 21.

In a related move, the Giants purchased the contract of infielder Deivi Cruz from Triple-A Fresno.

The 31-year-old Cruz was batting .310 with a home run and six RBI in 12 games for the Grizzlies.
