Reyes Reassigned to Minor League Camp

Postby MookieNJ » Thu Mar 20, 2003 10:48 pm

Rotoworld.com:

Mets reassigned SS Jose Reyes, C Joe Depastino, C Virgil Chevalier, LHP Pedro Feliciano and RHP Dan Wheeler to minor league camp.

In part due to his strained left quad, Reyes wasn't given a real chance to pass Rey Sanchez on the depth chart. He went 2-for-15 this spring.

I am actually liking the way Sanchez is playing right now. He had a decent game last night. Reyes isn't really ready yet, but he will be soon. He's really gotta develop his great skills. If Spring training is any indication of what this team can do, then they are going to have a pretty good year. I am looking forward to it.

i agree metsfan sanchez really surprised me so far i was thinking originally of him as a just a filler until reyes was ready but he has hit well enough and is solid on defense for me to start coming around on the subject.

There will come a day when Barry Bonds leaves baseball, and everything about the game will be the better for it.

Up to know he hasn't been able to do so. But I'm positive he will soon!

Nice to see a non-Mets fan feel that way. Hey RUMP, pull up a chair, stay awhile... ;-)

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
