Red Sox place Burks on DL

Boston, MA (Sports Network) - The Boston Red Sox placed outfielder/designated hitter Ellis Burks on the 15-day disabled list Monday.

Burks is suffering from a medial meniscus tear in his left knee. He will undergo arthroscopic surgery on Tuesday.

Burks has played in nine games this season, starting seven at designated hitter, batting .133 with one homer and one RBI.
