Huff or Gibbons?

Postby Guest » Thu Mar 20, 2003 5:43 pm

I understand that these two plays different positions. I am only picking them up to use at the Util spot. Who do you think will have a better yr? Any comments would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

HUFF:
'He's 26 years old and entering the prime of his career. Huff will be productive, ranking inthe middle third amongst first basemen.'

GIBBONS:
'The outlook for this year is promising, with as many as 35 homers and a much higher batting average, say around .270-.280.'

Both are 26 and in their prime. I like Huff better though.

I'll put in a plug for Gibby. I have him at 1B and like him alot. I remember a shot he hit in Yankee Stadium. The ball rockets off his bat. Last year he hit close to 28 HRs with a bad wrist. He is healthy now and most inportant he's not a Devil Ray.

Another vote for Huff. He hits for average, power, and doesn't strikeout. What's not to like? He looks a lot like a younger Chipper Jones to me.

Also, there is a good chance of Huff gaining 3B eligibility. Gibbons laready has OF eligibility, but 3B is a very weak position.
