I was reading sports illustrated the other day and I read an article on him. I realized that he's the 1st round, 1st pick by the twins. Is he projected to put up some good numbers this season? I can pick him up off the waivers and stash him in my DL when big tex comes off of it. What are everyone's opinions on him?
He'll be one of the great ones so long as that knee injury doesn't cause any trouble along the line. He is a high average, patient hitter that hasn't shown much power but could develop it over time. For this year think .290-.300, 8HR, 60-70 RBI. You could do worse at catcher.
Agree with Trac on that. If you have a DL slot, Mauer is worth picking up. His OBP will be very strong, and the Twinnies are putting up a fair number of runs.

My catcher situation is terrible...I drafted Phillips but recently gave up on him. My plan was to pick up either Mauer or LeCroy when they come back from injury. I realize LeCroy has more power, and Mauer hits for a better average....but which one would you rather have in a 5x5 roto? LeCroy will probably play more games, while Mauer has much more upside...any thoughts?
If it's a redraft league I'd take LeCroy, in a keeper I'd take Mauer.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

Its cause gardenhire is an idiot and he's basically done nothing for the Twins except get Shannon stewart. Oh and I went to school with his daughter and she's a whore and probably thought maur was cute, so she told daddy to get him. I hate Gardenhire, with Prior we woulda been World series Champs
