...that Danny Bautista is on a 17-game hitting streak? Looking at his game stats, he went hitless in his first game and hasn't gone 0-fer since.

If he were a free agent in your league (as he is in mine), would you pick him up?

I almost picked him up but went w/ V Castilla instead.

If I needed an OF or utility player, yes.

I didn't understand this offseason why everybody was so down on him, and avoiding him. Before dislocating his shoulder a couple years ago, he was off to a great start. He hasn't shown much power over his career (11 HR's is his career high in 11 seasons), but he could easily hit 20 HR's if he's healthy I think. He should hit for good average, steal a few bases, and give you a little pop. Nothing spectacular, but he won't hurt you in any categories either.

The reason everyone has been so down on him is because of the key word you used: could. It's all speculation because Danny has never played a full season as a starter. But I agree that the potential is there for a quietly productive season.

And his start is surprising considering how poorly he played this spring.
