Mulder trade offer....

I do not have one closer on my team. My starters are Mulder, Wood, Nomo, Mussina, W. Williams, Duckworth & K. Wells. I was offerred Mesa & Wolf for Mulder. What do you think? Legit offer? This is a 12 team league, 5x5 scoring.

No way. Bad deal. Just check out the live draft results on ESPN. Mulder going 30. Mesa and Wolf going 94 and 105.

For a 12 team league you have very good pitching. 7 starters is one too many, however. I would recommend moving one of them for value in some area that you lack.

You may NOT want to make that area saves, however. With no closers currently, you'd probably need two closers to make any kind of decent move up the charts in that category. No one team is going to trade you two closers, most likely, so it might be too late now to do anything except write it off.

Pick up Hoffman off the FA market if he's still there. Think about whether Embree or Fox of the Red Sox, Carter of TB, etc. might be worth a roster slot, if they haven't been grabbed already. Then think about whether a trade for a closer makes sense. No point trading for a 30-40 save closer if that still leaves you in last place in the saves category...

You should be able to get a much better closer packaged with a decent starter like Wolf instead of a headcase like Mesa.
